Balfour found guilty of murdering Jennifer Hudson’s family (HE GOT OWNED!!!!)
Jennifer Hudson’s former brother-in-law was convicted Friday of shooting and killing the Academy Award winner’s mother, brother and nephew.
Cook County jurors returned guilty verdicts against William Balfour after about 18 hours of deliberation over three days.
Jennifer Hudson had her head down when the verdict was announced. She then talked to her fiance, David Otunga, who put his arm around her. She then began to get emotional.
She was soon taken out of the courtroom — but reporters were not allowed to follow her.
Balfour, who turned 31 on Thursday, had no reaction. His family, however, began tearing up after the verdicts.
In addition to the murders, Balfour was also convicted of home invasion, aggravated kidnapping, residential burglary and possession of a stolen motor vehicle for the 2008 crimes.
His attorney, Amy Thompson, said there was “questionable use of evidence” in the case, and an appellate court needs to look at “very strong issues of law.”
As for Hudson’s surviving family, Thompson said their loss was hard to imagine.
“We are very sorry, and have always been very sorry for the tragedy they suffered,” she said. “I hope … they get some peace and rest in this case.”
Thompson said the defense team was disappointed in the verdict but “appreciated” all the hard work of the jury.”
“We do disagree with the verdict. It has always been our position and it still is that William Balfour is innocent of the murders,” she said. “My client is a very stoic young man. He doesn’t emote much….This is a very very hard blow for him.”
She said she hopes the Appellate Court with a very critical eye.
She said Julian was like a “son” to Balfour.
Thompson said the pressure of having Jennifer Hudson in court wasn’t much of a factor as the throng of reporters
Jennifer Hudson and her sister, Julia, who was married to Balfour, were in the courtroom when the clerk read the decision.
The jury pronouncement came just hours after jurors sent a note to the Judge Charles Burns to let him know they were split. Burns told them to keep trying.
Balfour now faces mandatory life in prison.
Jurors heard evidence for 11 days from 84 witnesses, ranging from crack addicts to ballistic experts to officers who found the bodies of Darnell Donerson, 57, Jason Hudson, 29, and 7-year-old Julian Hudson. Balfour did not testify in his own defense.
Prosecutors said Balfour shot Donerson and her son in their Englewood home, in the 7000 block of South Yale on Oct. 24, 2008.
Prosecutors believe he coaxed the child out of the house and then shot him in Jason Hudson’s SUV. The white suburban turned up three days later on the West Side.
Though he had at least three girlfriends, Balfour was angry that his then-wife, Julia Hudson, was seeing another man, witnesses testified. He had repeatedly threatened to kill her and her family if she left him but Julia Hudson didn’t take him seriously, witnesses said.
She told him she had plans to get intimate with her new boyfriend on her birthday Oct. 23, 2008. But she actually spent the day celebrating at a Red Lobster with her girlfriends and her son, Julia Hudson testified.
Balfour was sent in a rage when he came to the Hudsons’ home the next day and spotted balloons she had received from her boyfriend on Sweetest Day, prosecutors said.
Defense attorneys argued that the murders were a drug hit brought on by Jason Hudson’s crack business. They accused police and prosecutors of rushing to make a case against Balfour once they discovered his connection to the Oscar-winning actress.
No DNA evidence or fingerprints from the crime scenes linked back to Balfour, said Thompson, an assistant public defender. And keys police said they found on Balfour weren’t tested to see if they worked on Jason Hudson’s SUV for three years.
Jennifer Hudson, who was the first witness to testify against Balfour, sat through most of the trial that attracted press from across the country. She was escorted into Burns’ courtroom by a private security team who shielded from spectators who watched the trial. She was also brought in to the Criminal Courthouse through an underground passage to avoid the cameras.

NOT GUILTY!!!…LiL Boosie Found Not Guilty Of Murder In The 1st Degree!!!
BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
Baton Rouge rapper Lil Boosie, whose real name is Torence Hatch, has been found not guilty of murder. The jury deliberated for about an hour and a half.
Supporters are cheering outside the 19th Judicial Courthouse in Baton Rouge. Hatch and his defense team hugged and began crying once the verdict was read.
In its closing, the prosecution said the evidence speaks for itself. Prosecutor Dana Cummings said Michael Louding, known as “Marlo Mike,” admitted on interrogation tape that Hatch gave him $2,800 in $20s after the murder. She said Carvis “Donkey” Webb and Hatch worked on Louding to get him to tell the “truth.” According to Cummings, during phone calls to Louding, Webb told him, “Follow my lead and you coming home Marlo.”
She also told the jury Hatch wrote in a letter to his mother that he might have said some things that incriminate him. Cummings said the lyrics in Hatch’s songs again prove his intent. She said in the phrase “Yo Marlo” he even calls out his hit man. “That’s billboard strong,” Cummings said.
Hatch’s lawyer said detectives called Louding the “ace in the hole.” Attorney Jason Williams pointed out that’s a poker saying. He said poker is a game of deceit. He added the detective testified he’s skilled at deceit and that’s what this case is about. He told the jury to notice investigators said they preserved computers with lyrics on them for jurors to see, but police didn’t preserve 10 hours of interrogation tape for jurors to see.
“This case not about Boosie, but who’s being tried first?” Williams asked. “Not the man who says he killed six people.”
He went on to state there is no proof Hatch had beef with Terry Boyd. He said the task force that was created needs a big arrest to keep going and then asked, “What’s bigger than a rapper going down for murder?” He told the jury no one followed up on the lead Terry Boyd’s mother gave, until last year. By that time, the man she told them to talk to was dead. Officers also said they never read the Terry Boyd file, but they were investigating.
Boyd had 15 old scars on his body from bullet wounds. An old bullet was found in him. Williams posed the question, “Was someone coming back to finish what they started?” He said this all started over a letter Lee Lucas supposedly sent telling Hatch that, “Boyd was getting out of prison and he said he’s going to ‘jack and slap you.’”
“Where is that letter? Why didn’t Lee Lucas testify?” the attorney asked.
He also stated lots of lyrics were played, but prosecutors didn’t play the one that said f—- Hillar Moore. “Why?” he asked.
Prosecutors were given a chance to speak to the jury one last time and finished around 2 p.m.
The judge then gave jurors instructions and they were sent to deliberate the case around 2:30 p.m.
Defense attorneys for Hatch rested their case Thursday afternoon without calling any witnesses.
Attorney Jason Williams told jurors Thursday the defense was resting its case based on the fact the burden of proof lies with the state and based on the testimony of the state’s witnesses.
The prosecution had rested its case around 2:44 p.m. after six days of testimony from 27 witnesses.
Prosecutors contend Hatch hired Michael “Marlo Mike” Louding to kill Terry Boyd, 35, who was shot to death through a window while inside his home in 2009.
Hatch is currently serving an 8-year prison term on drug charges and is being held in the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola.
